Hanover Cotons is a Coton de Tulear Club of America (CTCA) Code of Ethics Breeder of Coton de Tulear puppies. We are located in Mechanicsville just outside of Richmond, Virginia.
The Coton de Tulear, pronounced “coe-TAWN day TULE-ee-r,” is a rare, pure-breed dog that originated in Madagascar. We fell in love with the breed after a long search for a small dog that was easily trained, had a good temperment, and did not shed everywhere.
If you are interested in a dog that -
- Is a close companion
- Rarely sheds and is hypoallergenic
- Loves to travel
- Enjoys long walks/runs
- Is easy to train
- Is great with children, adults, and other pets
- Loves to be around people
- then this may be the dog for you. Cotons are often referred to as the “anti-depressant” dog making it difficult to be around without invoking a smile.
The Coton de Tulear comes in three color variations -
WHITE: all white, often with cream highlights on ears and body.
BLACK AND WHITE: white coat with black patches on head and body. Black and white Cotons retain their color throughout their life, however some will fade to gray as they get older.
TRICOLOR: mostly white with tan patches laced with black on ears and body. Tricolors have lots of color as puppies. But as their adult coat appears, some of this color fades to white.
